Show ...... , . --y -r - - - If 'Cat Pack formed to support Weber State athletic teams By Amy Ward correspondent The Signpost Students at Weber State University have a new opportunity to get involved in school with a new organization called the 'Cat Pack. Kyle Poll, president and founder of the 'Cat Pack, remembers when there used to be a Student Wildcat Club on campus. They would go to the games, dress in purple, wear paint and cheer their team to victory. The club has since dissipated, leaving Poll wondering what happened. He organized the 'Cat Pack to get students involved in athletics and increase enthusiasm and spirit at sporting events. Poll wants to make college a more memorable experience. "We're all students. Many people just go to school, and they are not really students," Poll said. "You only go to college for four years. I don't want to look back and only remember studying and working. I want to remember going to games and cheering the team on to victory." The main objectives of the 'Cat Pack are to provide the teams with a sense of pride and support from their loyal fans. Chad Gerrety, assistant director of athletic' promotions and adviser to the 'Cat Pack, believes the 'Cat Pack is a great idea. "It can get more students to attend the sporting events, and get them more spirited and involved. It will give a better atmosphere at the games, giving WSU a better home-court advantage. The cheering gets the team fired up," Gerrety said. Summer Morris, assistant marketing and promotions for the athletic department, adviser of the cheer and dance team and the cheerleader coach, also thinks it is a fun way for students to get involved. "The 'Cat Pack works together with the cheerleaders and makes WSU a tough place for people to come and play. Students can be Package Handle: Aft 15 ifedtcf CM Part-time, great pay, no weekends! You know you'll see the 'Cat Pack at the games," Gerrety said. The 'Cat Pack is available for everyone to join. "It doesn't matter what club or organization you belong to, you can still be in the 'Cat Pack. We're all-inclusive. The more the merrier," Poll said. For students who don't have a lot of time, it is an excellent organization, Gerrety said. "It's an easy and fun thing to do to get involved." The only meetings are the tailgate parties before the game, and the cheers during the game, Poll said. "You don't have to go to every game. If you miss a game, you don't get kicked off the 'Cat Pack. Just come to the ones you can," he said.
