You can establish a Wildcat mail account and set your password, login to the newest computer lab, check out a laptop and work in the scenic environs ot the Laptop Lounge or meet with a study group in one ot several meetirt rooms in the newly remodeled building. Those of you who are new to college life may want to join the First. Year Experience (FYC) program. PYE helps ease the transition to the university. You will take classes with a learning community of other students who are new and learn about study skills. Faculty advisers will provide guidance on choosing a major and a career in a course called "Educ 1105 Introduction to the University. The EYE program provides the personal assistance that has become the hallmark of students' educational experience at WSU. Weber State provides many opportunities to enhance your education by working closely with faculty on service learning and undergraduate research projects. Currently, some of your fellow WSU students are studying the ecosystem ofthe Great Salt Lake, working to recharge the aquifer and ease the drought, examining brain chemistry and its effects on biorhythms and fatigue among fighter pilots, and collaborating with government and non-profit agencies to solve social problems and increase community involvement. I would encourage you to seek out these opportunities, as they provide valuable learning experiences and may lead to employment or acceptance in graduate or professionalschools aftergraduation. This fall, members of the Weber State community will participate in many activities outside the classroom including the annual Mt. Ogden hike, the Alumni kjTiomecoming, sporting events and pre-professional clubs and organizations. As you embark on a new semester, make newTriends and renew acquaintances, whether on the Ogden or Davis campus, take a moment to savor the sense of community and connection that exists at this university.
