Wednesday, hefinallygot what he was always looking for: A secure job. The former Wildcat basketball standout signed a one year, $720,000 contract with the Indiana Pacers. "I'm thrilled about this and I'm excited for the opportunity," Gill told NBA.com. "It has been a long road to get a commitment from a team like this and I'm looking forward to it and I'm going to make the most of it." After finishing his playing days at WSU, Gill has played in two foreign countries and four domestic minor leagues. Gill has also seen time with three NBA teams in the past four seasons, including the New Jersey Nets, Memphis Grizzlies and Portland Trail Blazers. The 6-0, 190-pound point guard was undrafted out of college, but played in eight games with the Nets in the 2000-01 season, averaging 4.9 points and 3.0 assists per game. "I've got a greater appreciation about the NBA and basketball in general," Gill said. "This has been the ultimate goal ever since I came out of college. I've bounced in and out (of the NBA) throughout my career, but it makes me appreciate the game more and it makes me more hungry."
