Show August 1. 2000 Orientation Issue mmnm'sennces hi S muss The Siqnpost Page 38 to save students time, hunger By Melissa Mikesell features editor The Signpost Food. Everybody needs it. Most people want it. Fortunately for students, faculty, visitors and the likes. Weber State University has a variety of food services available on campus. "Last year the variety of food options on campus were higher than the national average," said Paul Craft, general manager of Dining Services on campus. "We have such a variety of places to eat that if you want to eat on campus every day you don't have to a eat a hamburger-all the time." The Skyroom. The Gallery and The Junction in the Shepherd Union Building provide people with the option of having a full meal throughout the school year. While students are hustling to get to their next class, a quick stop in the SUB could save them from starvation. "I think the big thing is convenience," Craft said. 'That's the big thing we shoot for while you're here on campus. You can eat here and not have to leave and lose your parking place." Although losing a parking place will be a whole other issue this year, the amount of time people have will always remain the same. Most people usually have very little time to spare. Convenience is important for those who are in a rush, and the services, on campus are provided to help save time, or create more time time that wouldn't have been available if students were to leave campus for a bite to eat. Pretzelmaker, Wildcat Corner and Squeezers, all located directly across from Wildcat Lanes, are also great places to stop for. a snack. For those that aren't extremely rushed and pushing for time, The Skyroom offers a peaceful atmosphere with its sit down area, Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Skyroom is a self-service buffet." Craft said. "It is up on the fourth floor with windows all around so it has some really nice views." The Junction, open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 a.m to 4 p.m. has three different food areas to choose fromChick-fil-A, the Bagel Basket and Tierra Del Sol, which will be a new addition this fall. 'The bagel area is probably my favorite because I'm burned out on the chicken." said Terry Sund, supervisor over The Junction which is located on the second floor of the SUB. Sund, who has worked in The Junction for four years, said the area has a lot to offer students. "We've got TVs in our food court . that have a college MTV kind of set up. so students can sit in a quiet place and watch TV," she said. "We try to be really friendly ... we have a good atmosphere down here, and it's nice and cool compared to The Gallery." . The Gallery, located on the third floor of the SUB, open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. has six services with different food selections at each place. The Main Event, La Vincita, Pizza Hut, Subway, Specialty Plus and the Selona Grill range from choices anwywhere from hamburgers to pasta or even just a sandwich. La Vincita, another new addition this fall, will have specialty pizzas, calzones and breadsticks Dining Services and the Sodexho Marriott office, Room 336 in the SUB, have many programs to offer students, such as the Cash Plus program so they don't have P.M.
