Show Boy Badly Burned. While celebrating the destruction of Cevera's t'eet on the afternoon of the :ird, Keniech, the eleven-year-old son of Mahonri Snow, was severely burned by the explosion of a toy cannon igniting ignit-ing so'-; ; powder in his pocket. The boy loaded the cannon, but leaned too far over it to touch it off, the discharge setting hre to his shirt. He had a tobacco sack containing powder in his left shirt pocket, and with rare presence pres-ence of mind tried to extract it from his pocket, but before he could do so it exploded, burning his right hand and side severely and his face slightly, be- sides singeing his hair. His shirt lm-indiately lm-indiately took fire, and he became enveloped en-veloped in flames. Fortunately there happened to be some men standing near who quickly stripped the burning clothing off the lad. Dr. Affleck was summoned and has the patient under treatment. It will besome time before be-fore he fully recovers. Another boy, a son of Press Lamb, was injured in the arm by the cannon, but not severely. |
