Show CITY .COUXCIL. City Council met in regular session, January 6th. The newly elected and qualified officers present' were, Mayor Thomas P. Collam, Councilors Woodbury, Wood-bury, Jarvis, Cottam, Foster, and Morris, Mor-ris, and the Recorder and Marshal. The Mayor assumed the duties of his office, and congratulated the previous Mayor and Council upon the ability with which their duties had been performed: per-formed: and made suggestions as to the future needs of the City, as to sanitary and water regulations. The Mayor appointed the following standing committees: Municipal Laws and Government Crs. Woodbury, Cottam, and Foster. Water Works and Water Rights Crs. Jarvis, Foster and Cottam. Claims and Appropriations Cottam, Woodbury and Morris. Drainage, Streets and Alleys Fos ter, Morris and Woodbury. Public Grounds and Improvements Morris, Woodbury, and Jarvis. Cemetary Foster, Morris and Jarvis, The rules in force by the proceeding council were adopted. A petition from W. A. Hardy for lease of water power on Fast ditch was referred to Com. on W. W. & W. R. Communication from State Land Board, ottering to purchase bonds at par bearing 5 per cent interest, tabled. The appointment of City Attorney was deferred to next regular meeting. Dr. Frederic Clift was nominated as quarantine physician. The following city officers were np-pointed: np-pointed: Watermasler, George Brooks. Sexton, George Brook-;. Surveyor, 1. C. Macfarlane, Potmdkeeper, George ilrooks. The Recorder was authorised to procure pro-cure a minute bonk. Ordered, that the report of Surveyor as to reservoir site of St. George and Cottonwood Canal be referred to committee com-mittee on Water Works -V Water Rights, and that they report to the j Council at an early date in regard to the mailer.
