Show CAPTURED SPANISH SHIPS. Three Taken at Manila Are In Good Condition. Washington, May 13. Admiral Hich-born, Hich-born, chief of the bureau of construction, construc-tion, has received a report from Naval Constructor Caops, at Hongkong, regarding re-garding the three captured Spanish cruisers Isla de Cuba, Isla de Luzon and Don Juan de Austria, in which Constructor Capps states that a careful examination has shown that the vessels ves-sels are in considerably better condition condi-tion than was expected. The forecastle decks of the Cuba and Luzon are found to be In very fair condition. They are of teakwood, and will not have to be renewed, recaulk-ing recaulk-ing being sufficient to put them in flrst-olass condition. The hull, machinery ma-chinery and outfit, Mr. Capps. reports, are also found to be in good state, and may not need renewal. The boiler and engines of all the vessels are in faily good condition. |
