Washington county is making extensive exten-sive and ample preparations for the fair that will be held at St. George on Sept. is to 20. It will be the first exhibit over held of the various products of that county, and because of the drouth and other unfavorable conditions it is feared that the showing may lie inferior to what might reasonably have been expected in a year when the seasons had been more propitious. Yet the board of directors, having set their faces in the right direction, decline to turn back. They propose to have the fair a decision' that doubtless has pleased the people of Washington and surrounding counties. Great good will undoubtedly How from it. The Herald has received a copy of the premium list, published gratis by the St. George News, which is a neat piece of typographical work, besides being a creditable way of showing that the -newspaper is the best friend of the community always. Salt Lake Herald. We have received a copy of the premium pre-mium list of the Washington County-Fair, County-Fair, to be held at St. George, Utah. Sept. 1820. It is a neat book, of 24 pages, bound in covers, and a splendid specimen of the typographical art. Five hundred bound copies of this premium list were printed for the Fair Association free of charge by the Washington County News, of which John 1. Wallis, late of the Randolph Round-Up, is editor and proprietor. As the work would cost ordinarily about $75, we consider the Washington Washing-ton County' News has made the most liberal donation to the fair, besides booming it up in its local columns. The people of Southern Utah should be proud of their paper. Paris, (Idaho), Post. The Washington County News, published by John 11. Wallis, formerly of this city, appears to be a power for good in the county where it is published. publish-ed. It has succeeded in working up a county fair this year, and donated 500 neat phamplets of the premium list. A glance at the premiums, shows Washington county has some very liberal and progressive citizens. We trust that the fair may be a grand success suc-cess and a stimulus for other counties of the State to follow the example set by Washington. Provo Enquirer. We acknowledge the receipt of a premium list and prospectus of the Washington County Fair Association. The fair will be held at St. George, September 18, 19 and 20, and taking the liberal premiums offered as an indication, in-dication, the fair should be a grand success.
