Show Intense IIct In New York. New York, Sept. 5. Fifty dead and over 100 prostrations in one day is the record of the heat in Old New York. The sun beat relentlessly on the sweltering swelt-ering city all day long. Night followed fol-lowed almost like day, and the deaths from the heat were reported at intervals inter-vals in the various city hospitals, police headquarters aud the coroner's office. The highest point reached by tho thermometer was at 2 o'clock, when the mercury registered 02 degrees. The humidity averaged 84 per cent. |
