land ol 01 utah who make records of the doings of men on paper with types and ink otherwise known as members of the utah state press association met in the city of zion while yet the day was young for the purpose of jour beying to the tar far oft off city of nephi which Is on the plain which goeth up to the mountain of nebo the fire chariots of the scribes were laden with oil gas and water and there was much air in the wheels thereof that they might glide lightly over the rough spots of the way the way led toward the point where the sun stands in the sky when it Is high noon and the way was narrow smooth and hard even as the way which leads to the realms of bliss the fire chariots traveled at great speed through murray where the men of that city take much gold from the rocks which are sent there through the vale of draper and up onto the side of the mountain which overlooks the narrows of the jordan through american fork where annu ally vast amounts of strawberries are served to triumphs of their man the success of their farm ers the wisdom of their educators the virtues of their children the beauty of their mountains and scores of other things dear to the hearts of the dwellers of nephi and juab si 1 4 now when the shades of night had fallen and there was darkness in the land the scribes and those who were with them were taken to a great hall where there was dancing to the mu sic of cymbals string and reed in st and the scribes danced and made merry with the daughters of nephi even until a late hour now on the morning of the follow ing day which in the language of the 41 modern Is called sunday the scribes were placed in the fire chariots ot of the Nep hites and taken to a place in the fields of levan where wise men ex pediment peri ment with growing wheat altal fa barley peas and potatoes relying only to moisture which falls from the clouds tor for watering the same these men have great knowledge of the mysteries pertaining to plant life and convinced the scribes that their work Is a great help to those who till the soil in the regions where there Is not much rain chief peterson director of experimental work in agriculture spoke to the scribes and instructed them concerning the value of the work of his men and asked the sup port of the scribes in the afternoon of the day the scribes were taken again in fire char lots jots to the place where men sky and the scribes were again filled with the choicest of viands furnished by the 4 oki nephi plaster company it is in this beautiful canyon in the shadow of nebo the sons and daughters of nephi come to play in summer here they have their tents their cooking fires and their couches and it came to pass that when the darkness of night had come again the scribes went to the new temple of learning which the people of nephi and the province ot juab have just completed at a cost of shek els for the education of their sons and daughters it Is said that this temple of learning Is the finest in the rand land of utah and the scribes think it is Is so in the great assembly hall of the temple of learning the sons and daughters of nephi gave a fine enter tain ment to their visitors thirty five youths boy scouts of nephi and nd juab played on instruments ot of brass brass and reeds and drums in much volume and great harmony and there were readings and songs and again in the rear of an adoth acary shop the scribes were fed on the most delicious frozen creams and fruits where they were the guests of scribes wood and gibson who record the doings of the Nep hites on the pages of the times news and so ended the second day and it came to pass that on mon day the second day of the week and the third day of the gathering the scribes arose from their couches in the house of forrest partook of the morning meal finished their business in n the hall of kiwanis filled their anks tanks with gas and radiators with nater water and sped away over the con rete crete trail to their homes in the val leys ys of the mountains feeling that it was well that they had visited with the he people of nephi and juab and it t came to pass as the scribes left the portals of the city of nephi the cap maln
