Show LA VERKIN La Verkin, July 7. Independence Day program here was one of the best ever had in this place. A snappy snap-py program in the morning and fine variety of contests and sports in the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Moroni Sanders of Iron Springs, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jackson of Toquerville and Mrs. Al-vin Al-vin Hardy of Hurricane spent the 4th here. Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. John Judd, Mr. and Mrs. James Judd, Mr. and Mrs. George Judd and families left the first of the week for Beaver to attend the Ashworth family reunion there. Heber, Frank and Miss Orpha Hardy Har-dy and Miss Violet Leavitt of Mes-quite, Mes-quite, Nevada, spent the Fourth and week end visiting at the Wm. Hardy home. They motored to Zion canyon can-yon for a days' visit while here. Early tomatoes are ripening, but tomato crop here is very light as the blight has taken from 7 5 to 90 per cent of vines. Sweet corn is also on but is poor on account of the drought. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gubler of Iron Springs arrived here last Monday Mon-day and are visiting with Mr. Gubler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. E. Gubler, brothers, sisters and friends. A number of tons of Gainsboro peaches and some early apples have been shipped to Salt Lake markets. Mrs. Hattie Woodbury and daughter daugh-ter Ezoe left last Monday for a visit to Cane Beds. The heavy first crop of figs has about gone. We have had nice showers the past week. |
