Show South Slope-Upper Virgin River S C District To Hold Election Nov. 30 By HEBEK HIRSCHI Chairman Board of Supervisors The South Slope-Upper Virgin River Soil Conservation district will hold an election of supervisors supervis-ors Nov. 30th. Three board members mem-bers are to be elected at this time. Prospective supervisors have been nominated by the farmers. Polling places will be at Hurricane Hurri-cane library; Rockville postoffice; and Springdale postoffice. The election will be conducted under the supervision of the Utah State Soil Conservation committee. This soil conservation district was organized under the state law by referendum and Certificate ! of Organization issued May 24, 1939. The district comprises a total of 203,00 acres of which 46,050 is state and private lands. These lands are owned or operated by approximately 248 farmers and ranchers. j Through cooperation with state j and federal agencies, the district assists the farmers in putting into i practice plans of conservation operations op-erations including proper land use and management according to the ! capabilities of the soil, improved irrigation systems, water and soil ! conservation measures, flood con- j trol, drainage and many other im- j portant measures to promote wise land use, prevent soil erosion, j maintain soil fertility and conserve con-serve moisture. j |
