D. S. hospi- tal. Mrs. Lora A. Christensen accompanied them home to take care of her daughter, Mrs. Nancy Craw-ford, who is confined to her ; bed because of a heart ailment. Pfc. Gerald Gifford arrived here early Tuesday morning to spend Part of his 30-day fourlough. He ftas .seriously wounded in Ger-' Ger-' many and has been sent recently to a hospital in California. Mrs. Aletha Cannon and small son, Jimmy are herv .rom Salt Lake City visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kendall Ken-dall Gifford. Missionaries for our Sacrament meeting Sunday were Bp. Loren Squire of LaVerkin and Rodney Stanworth of Hurricane. A lawn party was held for all married people on the evening of August 14 in honor of the birthday anniversary of Bp. Alvin Hardy. A wedding reception was held here August 15 for Mr. and Mrs. Harold Russell, who were married in Salt Lake City recently. Mr. and Mrs. George Short of Cedar City were here to attend the reception. re-ception. Harold Excell of Ogden is visiting visit-ing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Excell. Clara Ruesch has returned home after an extended stay in Oklahoma Okla-homa where she has been working and staying with her aunt, Mrs. Verda C. Davis. She also worked in Houston, Texas and visited her brother, Arlen who is at Camp Hood. Linford Christensen of Esca-lante Esca-lante was a visitor in town Friday and Saturday. Emma Crawford has gone to Parowan to visit her brother, Dan Crawford and family. Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Olsen made a business trip to Cedar City Saturday. Harry Gifford slipped and fell a few days ago while working on our ditch dam. He cut his arm quite badly. Carrol, the small daughter of Mr and Mrs. Linford Christensen of Escalante, is staying with her grandmother, Mrs. Lora Christensen.
