Show Fall From Tree Proves Fatal To Lewis Owen, 16, At Hurricane mmillCANF, Utah- Injuries received re-ceived in a fall from a tree near his home in Hurricane late Saturday Satur-day evening, were responsible for the death Sunday, May 13 of Lewis Owen, 1(, at G p.m. in the McGregor hopsital at St. George. Lewis and his brother, Darwin had long maintained a tree house high up in a large Cottonwood tree about 90 feet from their home in Hurricane. Late Saturday evening the two boys climbed above the tree house after bird nests. The limb on which Lewis stood, broke, sending him crashing to the ground, a distance of nearly 50 feet, lie was stunned by the fall, but when his brother reached him, he got to his feet and walked un- I aided to the house and the doctor was called. lie was later brought to the hospital at St. George where it was found he had a broken back, head bruises and internal in-ternal injuries, which resulted in his death. Born at Tremonton, Utah, June 20, 1928, he was a son of Ray L and Alene Campbell Owen. The family moved to Hurricane where he attended school and was this year a sophomore at Hurricane high school. He frequently made trapping trips with his father Surviving besides his parents are his brother, Darwin, and three sisters, Alta, Faye and June, all of Hurricane. i |
