() - I TO THK STATU I In the three years time the volume H of business to come before the Utah S State Securities Commission has in- creased from approximately $15,000- 000 in volume to $63,394,870 for the H " fiscal year ending December 1st. ' 1923, according to the annual report of the Securities Department just presented to ilio liovemor. During that lime the Seem n :. s I lepai l ment has operated at a cost of approximately approx-imately $L'0.()00 to the State and has during that period netted. the State Treasury approximately $30,000.00 above all expenses. Through a system of strict regulations regula-tions the Commission has been enabled en-abled to protect the public from purchasing pur-chasing worthless stock very materially, mater-ially, and wild each year greater protection pro-tection is being given. Warnings have constantly been sent out to the people to beware of ficticious stock :;lesmei and promoters, and the department de-partment is ready at all times to furnish fur-nish information relative to the standing of any company (hat has applied ap-plied for a permit. Through quick action the Commission Commis-sion has been able to block the sale of many thousand dollars of worthless stocks from the Texas fields, and no less than a dozen of those indicated last summer were prevented from doing do-ing business in the State of Utah. More than two million dollars of securities se-curities that were going to be offered for sale have been withdrawn because be-cause the plan did not meet the approval ap-proval of the Utah Commission. The Securities Commission makes no recommendations whatever in the sale of securities, but is using every effort, to see that the moneys invested with the various companies is .properly .proper-ly expended and the state developed through these expenditures. The Commission has now reached a state of efficiency that has placed it in a very favorable position among the standard commissions throughout, the United States and millions of dollars dol-lars of securities are qualified each year for companies who desire to finance fi-nance through the East and on the Pacific Coast. |
