Show HURRICANE Mrs. Vernet Hinton Reporter Mr. and Mrs. Vard Wright spent the week end in Newcastle with Mr. and Mrs. Page Knell. Mr. and Mm. Lloyd Jolley and children of Salt Lake City visited Sunday at the home of Lorenzo Spendlove. Mr. and Mrs. LaWayne Wood and Lloyd Wood of Boulder City, were visiting in Huiricane Thursday, Thurs-day, going on from here to Salt Lake City. They were accompanied accom-panied by Mr. and Mrs. Ray Spendlove. Hay reported for duty wilh the U. S. armed forces on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Isom have moved to Las Vegas where Mr. Isom has employment. Members Mem-bers of the South ward held a farewell party for them Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Stout. Mrs. Relva Jensen of Salt Lake City is here visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Spendlove. Spend-love. Mr. and Mrs. Elsworth Camp bell of Salt Lake City have been visiting here recently with Mrs. Campbell's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Scow. Several people attended the Temple session Thursday evening. A very good crowd was present at the Wednesday evening basketball basket-ball game between Parowan and Kanab. The Woodward high school of St. George presented the play, "Huckleberry Finn", last Thursday afternoon at the Hurricane high school. It was enjoyed immensely. Mrs. Burn Hinton returned recently re-cently from Delta where she attended at-tended the funeral services of her nephew, who was killed in a plane crash while training in the U. S. air forces. Mary Webb, who is attending the Dixie junior college, was home for the week end with her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Arvel Webb. Jay King, who has had employment employ-ment in Los Angeles, came home last week end to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor King. Grace Cox arrived Saturday from Salt Lake City, where she has been for the past month. Mr. and Mrs. DuRell Covington and children of Las Vegas, spent Sunday here visiting relatives. Scout Troop No. 352 left Friday afternoon for a two-day trip, returning re-turning Sunday night. Owen Hall and Thomas Eager supervised the trip with 13 Scouts attending. Mrs. Walter Zalawski and baby are here for an indefinite stay with her parents, Mr. and Mrs Merrill Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brooks were visitors in St! George last Sunday. R. L. Scow left Sunday to resume re-sume his post with the armed forces. Mrs. Edwin "Cox is visiting in Cedar City with her parents. Floyd Ence of St. George spent Sunday here with his wife and baby. Mrs. Rucben Ence arrived Sunday Sun-day from Ivins to visit with her , daughter-in-law, Mrs. Floyd Ence and baby. The Hurricane high school play, "Laughing Irish Eyes", was presented pre-sented in St. George Monday night. Mr. and Mrs. Vernel Stratton have been transferred from Las Vegas to Cedar City. They stopped stop-ped in Hurricane enroute, to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Golden Taylor. Brent Gibson arrived home from Virginia, having a medical discharge dis-charge from the Army. Nedra Gibson, LeOra and Stella Isom came home Sunday from Salt Lake City, where they have been working. Norene Stratton and Mrs. Lena Parry of Cedar City were guests Sunday of Mrs. Rose Stratton. Mrs. Clyde Haritt of Caldwell, Ida., is visiting with relatives. A birthday anniversary party was given in honor of Mrs. La Von Adams Monday evening at her home. Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Stratton arrived Sunday to visit relatives, Darwin is on furlough from the Army. Mrs. Hazel Hirschi of Cedar City was a visitor in Hurricane over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Allen of Leeds were visiting relatives Sunday. Sun-day. Frank Ashton arrived home on Tuesday, having been released from the Army. Earl Spendlove arrived Tuesday from Oklahoma to attend the funeral fun-eral services of his mother, Mrs. Lilly Mae Petty Spendlove. Mrs. Elwood Hardy of Bunker-ville, Bunker-ville, is here visiting her parents, Mr. and Mi's. Alfred Scow. Hurricane High Junior Prom "Twilight On the Trail," is set as the theme for the 1943 Hurricane Hurri-cane high Junior Prom to be held Friday evening. Mar. 19th, commencing com-mencing at 9 p. m. Decorations I and unique lighting effects are being be-ing completed by the junior class. Interest is running high, and from all indications this will be the : outstanding event of the year's 1 social calendar, say the sponsors. The dance is to be semi-formal, : with special emphasis being placed on the promenade and the floor show. |
