Show LaYERKIN Pansy L. Hardy Reporter Mrs. Margaret Hardy has been spending the past few weeks at Eureka, Nev., with her daughter. Speakers at Sacrament meeting were Isaac Hardy and Alice Gubler. Gub-ler. Fawn Gubler, sang a vocal solo, "A Soldier's Prayer". She was accompanied on the piano by her mother, Thora Gubler. An old time dance was held last Saturday in the ward hall. A large crowd was in attendance. Mrs. Genevieve Gubler is visiting visit-ing in Salt Lake City. The Relief Society is sponsoring sponsor-ing a dance on Mar. 20, for the purpose of raising funds for materials ma-terials for making quilts. Fifteen quilts is the goal which the La-Verkin La-Verkin Relief Society has been asked to achieve. John Segler, A f t o n Wilson, Fawn and Helen Gubler and Qinta and LuDeen Neilson made a weekly trip to St. George, where they are taking music lessons from Miss Ruth Falck. They are "sharing the rides" as the government govern-ment has asked, each taking their turn with their cars. Mrs. Vernon Church and small daughter, LaReta, are on an extended ex-tended trip with Mrs. Church's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Cox of St. George. The group visited in Salt Lake with Mrs. William Prince, a sister, then went on to Denver, where they visited another of the Cox sisters, Mrs. Richard Bentley. Here, Mrs. Prince, Mrs. Cox and LaReta remained, re-mained, while Mrs. Church accompanied ac-companied her father to Rochester, Minn., where Mr. Cox expects to undergo medical treatment at the Meyo Brothers Clinic. At Rochester, Ro-chester, Mrs. Church expects to visit with her son, Warren, who is filling a mission in that district, dis-trict, and who will try to be at Rochester, while his mother and grandfather are there. A D. U. P. meeting was recently held at the home of Mrs. Minnie Wilson. Mrs. Harriet Woodbury presented the lesson, and Sarah A. Sanders gave an interesting history. Mrs. Wilson served refreshments re-freshments to 12. Mrs. Pauline Shenik, recently of Los Angeles, visited with her school-girl friend, Mrs. Pauline Wilson, on her way into northern Utah. Ruth Neilson, Rosalba Fuller and Pansy Hardy of the Primary stake board, attended board meeting meet-ing held at Hurricane on Monday. Mon-day. Visitors at the meeting were Horatio Gubler, LaVerkin, and Linden Heaton, Hurricane, of the stake high council, who are the stake's Primary advisors. Lorraine Heaton presented the teacher trainer lesson, and first counselor Minnie Barratt gave a stimulating talk on summer Primaries. At- tention was called to the fact that the Hurricane South ward had written Mr. Hayes, encouraging encour-aging him to clean up the picture shows, and eliminate Sunday shows. W. Tell Gubler is spending this week at home from his work at Las Vegas. The Relief Society celebrated their anniversary with a program Tuesday. Refreshments were served. LaFel Iverson of the stake presidency announced Sunday that stake quarterly conference would be held at Hurricane on the 21st. The meetings are to start at 8:30 a. m., and continue through the day. The first meeting for the public will be held at 10:30 Sunday Sun-day morning. Hilda Brooks, who has been ill for so long is able to attend school and Sunday school once more. Mrs. Isaac Stocks, who has spent the past five or six months in the Iron county hospital, due to an automobile accident, is home with her family. As yet she is not able to walk, but hopes the time will soon come when she can be about her work again. |
