OF 'jrV M A N" GODFREY" I Practical jokers, piano play-' play-' ei's, singers, wits and other ca-jpricious ca-jpricious influences were welcome on the set while Gregory La Cava ' was directing "May Man God-il'rey", God-il'rey", Universale- romantic com-'edy com-'edy starring William Powell and Carole Lombard, which plays at the Gaiety Theatre on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. While it is generally the rule j to discourage horseplay when shooting a picture, La Cava in-vited in-vited it. Realizing that his script was madcap comedy from start to finish, he obtained gay spirit and lively pace from the player by encouraging laughter, music and fun between scenes. The actors were bubbling over with whimsical zest as William Powell and Carole Lombard exchange ex-change flip fripperies with Alice Brady, Gail Patrick, Jean Dixon, Eugene Eallette and Alan Mowbray. |
