Show Plans Announced For Purchase Of Water Rights by Farmers Plans are nearly completed for the purchase by Enterprise and Newcastle farmers of several thousand shares of Enterprise and Newcastle reservoir waters from two large owners in the Escalante Valley. This water is being purchased pur-chased by loan provisions of the Water Facilities Act and the purchase pur-chase dockets prepared by local SCS and FSA officials have received re-ceived SCS approval and have been submitted to the FSA for fina approval. The water is being purchased by five Enterprise and nine Newcastle New-castle farmers who will use it on their farms which are 11 miles closer to the reservoirs than the lands on which it is now being used. The water saved from loss by evaporation and seepage by abandoning the two present 11 mile ditches will enable the new owners to grow twice the amount of crops that have been grown in the past, states J. J. Turner, acting area conservationist. |
