Show Pine Valley Mrs. E. S. Beckstrom Reporter Claude Bracken shot and killed a cougar here on Friday a few rods from his home. On Thursday Thurs-day evening he chanced to be out of doors and saw the animal slinking across the upper part of "s field. He thought it must be in pursuit of a deer when he remembered re-membered a small colt he had grazing in near-by pasture. Hastily Hast-ily securing a twenty-two rifle, he shot five shells (all he had) at it, wounding it badly, but fail-tog fail-tog to kill it. The following morn-mS morn-mS he came down town and seared se-ared more bullets, and accom panied by Gordon Beckstrom returned re-turned to where he had shot it, it was still alive but had not moved from where it dropped. They soon killed it. The animal measured slightly over eight feet in length. Mrs. Estella McArthur of St. George is staying here with her mother, Mrs. Sarah Jacobson, who is confined to her bed with a broken blood vessel in her leg. Mr. and Mrs. Ralston Barber returned home Sunday from St. George where they had been to attend the Rodeo and secure material ma-terial for remodeling their home. They are repairing the old Lloyd home. |
