Show Must Demand Snow Canyon Road Tho St. Oorjo Chamlx-r of Commerce is in receipt of a letter from the State Road Commission in which they state: "We are ointf forward with the preparation of plans for the new section of road leading from St. George to Snow Canyon, and expect to have it under way this season". They state that they "have tx-en delayed somewhat" in ohtaininj.; the approval of the Bureau of Iiblic Roads for this .secondary highway project, but you may rest assured that it still has its prorjer place on our program and will lie put under contract just as soon as we can get it ready". This is only one of a numlx-r of letters that have been received by the St. Ceorge Chamler of Commerce and County Commissioners during the past few years in which action has l'en promised at some future date. The question that we are interested in at this time, is does this promise mean any more than those that were given previously. There is one thing sure, that if every community in the county that is affected by this road started a continual "asking program" we would soon get some action. Just as long as we let a few people do all of the demanding, it will lx just that much longer before work starts on this road. We will admit that the Road Commission has 100 places for every dollar that they have to spend on roads, that they are doing their best with the limited finances available, but we still think that if this section keeps eternally on their trail that we will see some action. We urge that every club and civic organization make it their main project to keep demanding reports from the Road Commissioners until the commission decides that the Snow Canyon road is one of their "must" projects. |
