Show VOICE OF THE PEOPLE To Whom It May Concern.: Our old pioneer William Thompson Thomp-son gave the city of St. George one block of land by the ball park just across the street east and south, which is a splendid location for a park, one of the best in the whole valley. This piece of land was given to the city with the provision that if it is not made into a park it is to be transferred back to the Thompson Thomp-son estate. The ground is level enough to be splendid for recreational purposes, pur-poses, and sub irrigated so it will grow locust, mock orange, and other tret?s without irrigation. The water owned by the city above the highway can be piped down te this ground with good pressure and used on this ground. Inasmuch as the city is at present contemplating the building build-ing of a park and spending considerable con-siderable money, the people of the city should be greatly interested in-terested in this location and should be permitted to express their choice by vote as to the location. It is the opinion of the writer that the Thompson block should be accepted and used for this purpose and given the name of the Thompson Park. It is easily accessible to the citizens, there are no highway hazzards and undoubtedly will be the center cen-ter of the city in the near future. There are three possible sites being considered. the school ground, the Thompson ground, and the present ground north of the highway 91. It is hoped that the citizens will take interest to review these locations, co down and look it over and show an interest in-terest in a good location. Richard A. Thorley. |
