Show Capacity Crowd Attends Sunday Book Review A capacity crowd assembled at the county library Sunday night at 7:30 to witness the opening by-monthly book review sponsored by the associated literary clubs of the city. Mrs. Roxey Romney had charge of the session in the absence of this year's leader, Mrs. Leila Atkin. Mrs. Pearson H. Corbett gave the book review, choosing Edna Ferber's recent publication, "A Peculiar Treasure" which combines com-bines the personal history of the Ferber Family with that of the Jews of America. A portion of the story was published in the Woman's Wo-man's Home Companion recently. Written entirely in the first person, per-son, a difficult problem in most stories, Miss Ferber's literary gift has an intimate trend in this story that gives no weariness to either reader or listener. Mrs. Corbett gave the story in the author's own wording, merely cutting cut-ting the original to the time required, re-quired, but losing none of the essential flavors. |
