Show Richard Wright Dies At Home In Hurricane Saturday HURRICANE, Utah Richard Wright, 61, died in his home at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, from a complication of goiter and heart ailment with which he has suffered suf-fered constantly for approximately one year. Mr. Wright, farmer, was born at Duncan's Retreat in 1878 and married Miss Annie M. Spend-love Spend-love at St. George in 1897. About 25 years ago he moved his wife and family to Hurricane and remained re-mained here until the date of his death. He will long be remembered re-membered by friends as a tireless worker and it is said of him, "He was always willing to aid a friend or neighbor in need and never saw bad in any person". Besides his wife, he is survived (Continued on page seven) Richard Wright Dies (Continued from first page) hy a sister, Mrs. James Jepson, and two brothers, Howard and Alma Wright, as well as nine children, 20 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Among his children are three sons, Calvin, Sheldon and Flint; six daughters, Mrs. Roe Ballard, Mrs. Chester Slack, Mrs. Walter Slack, Mrs. Milo Stanworth, Miss LaVerd Wright, all of Hurricane, and Mrs. Melvin Pierce of Tremonton, Utah. Funeral services were held on October 16 in the stake chapel with Emerald Stout officiating. Prayers were given by Fenton Whitney and Ira H. Bradshaw; speakers were all friends and close associates of the family. Thomas Isom, John Hall, George L. Whitney, all of Hurricane; Maurice Wilson and William Sanders of LaVerkin. Mrs. David Teeples composed and read a tribute tri-bute to Mr. Wright which expressed ex-pressed the love of his friends; Mrs. Harold Anderson and Mrs. Cummon Stratton accompanied by Mrs. Flora Tweedie sang, "Whispering Hope" and Mrs. Dean Clark gave a vocal solo. Pall-bearers were sons, Flint, Calvin and Sheldon with son-in-laws, Chester Slack, Melvin Pierce and grandson, Dell Naegle. Interment Inter-ment was in the local cemetery, the grave being dedicated by Bp. Elmer Graff. Friends attended the funeral from Hurricane and vicinity as well as Tropic, Cedar City, Tremonton Tre-monton and Hinckley. |
