Show KXK.MITION 1511. 1. The pa i.iaie of the Kxcmpt ion hill to the full $2,000 on property an.! on personal property comes as a sur- prhc !o those who have followed this hill. The close mar-Kin mar-Kin hy which it, was niven approval in the last election, tavo most people the opinion that the Legislators would not w higher than .foOO or $1,000 at the most. Some of the Representatives expressed the opinion that the people didn't know what they were voting when they voted against it and even where their own counties came out against the hill, some of them, still voted for the full exemption. Just what counties similar to Washington county will do, is a t.ig problem to those who arts resixmsible for meeting meet-ing the necessary expenditures. The people of this county have had to carry too big a load, simply because we had no utilities to pay a big share of the tax burden. If the Legislators can figure out a scheme that will relieve the local burden it will be welcomed by all concerned. However, How-ever, it still conies back to the fact that the people of every section of the -state are carrying all of the tax burden bur-den that they want and it means that we will continue to have to pay our way, only in a different form, if we are to have the services from, the government that we demand. |
