Show Football Season Opens Friday For Flyers-Tigers The gridiron lid will be pried off Friday at 3 p. m., when the Hurricane Hur-ricane Tigers meet the Dixie high Flyers on the Dixie athletic field in the first league game of the season. It is difficult to predict the outcome out-come of this game, as it will be the first for both teams. Coach Walter Brooks will bring a squad of large, rangy veterans against Coach Tolman's midgets, who will rely on speed to give them the advantage. One of the Dixie mainstays, Junior Neilson, will be out of the game, as he is out of school at present working. The starting line-up for the Flyers will likely consist of Herbert Herb-ert Pitchforth, quarterback; Leslie Les-lie Hafen and Phil Reid, halfbacks; half-backs; De Wayne Schmutz, center; cent-er; and LaGrande Frei and Wendell Wen-dell Tobler, ends. The six-man style of ball makes a special appeal to the fans. College Squad The college squad is still in the practice stage. So far the coach has been unable to get practice games with outside teams. Twenty-five men are now registered with the college group. The first league game will be at Price on October 4 or 5, when the Flyers tangle with the Carbon Car-bon Dinosaurs. The first home game will be with Snow on October Oc-tober 12. There is a possibility of this date being changed however. how-ever. Dixie will next be hosts to Westminster on October 17 or 18. |
