Show John Isaac Reid Dies Here Tuesday From Self Inflicted Gunshot Wound John Isaac Reid, 20, terminated his life at 12:35 a.m., Tuesday, Sent. 24. at the home where the family has resided since their ar-. ar-. rival in St. George last May. Using Us-ing a .22 rifle the boy shot thru the top of his heart. With three younger brothers, Mr. Reid had attended the circus performance. The shooting followed. fol-lowed. Mr. Reid was said by his mother to have been despondent des-pondent over their financial situation. situ-ation. Deputy Sheriff A. P. Mitchell Mit-chell and Dr. L. W. McGregor were hastily summoned and the young man was hurried to the McGregor hospital where expert surgery closed the wound in the heart, but the patient died a few minutes later from loss of blood. The body was taken to Pickett mortuary pending burial arrangements. arrange-ments. John Isaac Reid was a son of C. Roy and Bertha Shearer Reid. The family has no permanent home but came to St. George last May, from Delta, Colorado, except Mr. Reid who is in poor health, and two sons Joseph and Jacob, who remained in Colorado. Mrs. Reid with this son, his wife and baby boy, now one year old, and with four daughters and three other sons came here to join an elder son, Charles who had preceded them. Surviving besides his parents, his wife and infant son, John, are four sisters, Mary, Bertha, Ermine Erm-ine and Beverly and six brothers. Joseph and Jacob of Colorado, Charles, Elvin, Fred and Jerry of St. George. |
