Show DISTRICT COURT District court opened last Friday with Judge Thos. H. Burton on the bench. The following disposition of caces: In the case of St. George City vs. WCiani Shanley; appeal from verdict of Justice's court -dismissed. State vs. Albert Petty; defendant pleaded guilty to simple assault and was pn a suspended sentence of 60 y- days in county jail. Melissa Burnham vs. A. G. Burn-ham; Burn-ham; divorce granted. Aima Clark vs. Frederick Schulz; suit for damages; dismissed. Frederick Schulz vs. Dean Clark, Aima Clark and Hannah Pike; suit for carnages; dismissed. Dixie Stockgrowers Bank vs. Washington Wash-ington Co.; suit to recover taxes paid under protest; dismissed. Kumen Williams vs. John H.. Cot-tarn; Cot-tarn; suit for slander; dismissed. City of St. George vs. Alden Gray, Justice of the Peace- at Santa Clara. This case was a case when ten St. George people i charged, some with intoxication, some with disturbing the peace i took a change of venue from Justice McAllister's court at St. George to Justice Gray's court at Santa Clara. Judge Burton held that there is no riht in law for a change of venue from a city court to any other justice court. The court therefore ordered the justice of the peace of Santa Clara precinct to forthwith return the papers and files in said cases to the city court of St. George and direct the St. George C;ty judge to proceed with the cases. Thereafter the cases were all dismissed m the city justice court. Mary Judd vs. Jos. E. Judd; decree of divorce granted to plaintiff. The calender is almost completely cleaned up and is in the best condition it has been in for some time. |
