Show HOWARD BENSON TO COMPETE SOON IN NATL RIFLE MEET Howard Benson, who graduated gradu-ated from the Dixie Junior college col-lege in 1934 and attended the Arizona' Teachers college last winter, joined the Arizona National Na-tional Guard and has recently won a number of honors for his marksmanship. With 1500 men in the camp to compete with. Benson was the only private to make the rifle team which is representing re-presenting Arizona in the national nation-al riflle matches at Camp Perry. Ohio. Thirteen members of the team and officers left Flagstaff in a special car on the Santa Fe rail-I rail-I road for Toledo, Ohio last Friday and will return via the Southern Pacific on September 24th. There will be 7000 men contesting con-testing from all over the United States and Foreign countries. The meet is sponsored by the War Department and all expenses are paid by it which, it is estimated, will cost approximately $1,000 per man. Benson will return to the Arizona Ari-zona State Teachers college to i resume his studies this winter. |
