Show ' Northern Chinese Start Offensive London Rumors that the northern Chinese forces are beginning an active offensive are contained in a Hongkong dispatch to the Exchange Telegraph company. Five of their warships are reported to have left Tslngtao in a southerly direction, while 12,000 northerners north-erners are said to have landed at Tsung Ming island, at the mouth of the Yangtze river. General Yang Sen, the dispatch said, arrived at Ichang, on the Yangtze In Hupeh province, May 8. There was tho usual looting, , but foreign property was not touched. General Yaug Sen is reported to have taken over Shasl, on the Yangtze, about seventy miles east of Ichang, and to be joining Marshal Wu Pei-Fu's army at the Han river for an advance on Hankow stronghold of the radical nationalists. |
