Mr. and Mrs. Mark Lamb were business visitors here Wednesday from Toquerville Donald McGregor underwent an operation for appendicits May 14, at the hospital here. Miss Maurine Whipple came in Sat urday from Monroe, where she has been teaching school. All correspondence has been considerably con-siderably reduced this week in order to get it in this issue Miss Nellie McArthur left this morning for Mesquite, Nev., to spend about ten days visiting. Dee ' Hughes left this morning for his home at Mesquite, Nevada, after spending a few days here. Mrs. Delmer Blair came in Wednesday Wed-nesday from Los Angeles, Cal., to visit relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Smith and family came in Sunday from Provo to visit relatives and friends. Mrs. Grace Mitchell left. Friday for her home at Salt Lake City after spending several weeks here. Samuel Barnhurst and Miss Lulu Workman spent the week end here from Hatch visiting relatives. Lynn Peterson came in Sunday from Enterprise to spend a few days visiting relatives and friends. Miss Iola Prince of Middleton underwent un-derwent an operation for appendici ts at the local hospital Tuesday. Misses LaPrele Magleby and Elva Swindel came in Tuesday from Monroe Mon-roe to visit relatives and friends here. Mrs. Charles Walker, who has been confined to her bed the past three "weeks with illness is improving nicely. nice-ly. Clint Larson, former Dixie boy, jumped 6 feet 3 inches at the recent "Y" tournament at the B. Y. U. field, Provo. Miss Ruby Bryner underwent an operation for appendicitis at the local hospital May 12. She is doing very nicely. A large number of people came in last Thursday to spend that day and Friday working in the St. George temple. Mrs. Thomas Gardner left this morning for Los Angeles, Cal., to spend about ten days visiting her daughter. Mrs. Juanita Pulsipher entertained entertain-ed the Dixie college debaters at a luncheon after the Baccalureate services ser-vices Sunday evening. Misses Freida Fulmer. Grace Woodbury and Ethel Stratton were visitors here the fore part of the week from Hurricane. Mrs. C. A. Workman and her son and daughter. Higbee returned Wednesday Wed-nesday from Parowan, where she spent about two weeks visiting her mother, Mrs. S. G. Page, who has been ill. Walter Christian left Tuesday for Tucson. Arizona, to stay with his mother, who has been there since the funeral of her daughter, killed in an auto accident. A delegation of Bull valley people were here last Saturday and requested request-ed aid from the Chamber of Commerce Com-merce in getting a good road made between this city and that place. Mrs. Jeremy Leavitt came up from Mesquite, Tuesday to take in D. C. commencement exercises. She left for return Wednesday accompanied by her daughter, Miss Vilda. who has been attending the college the past term. Mrs. Josephine Whitehead and son LeRoy and wife, former Dixieites, arrived ar-rived here Monday from Salt Lake City to visit relatives and old time friends and also on business. They intend leaving today for a tour of Zion park, Bryce canyon and the Grand Canyon. Word has been received here by Mrs. Laura A. Gates that the Belvi-dere Belvi-dere high school band of 60 members of which her son, Clarence F. Gates is leader, has won the state of Illinois champonship, having won frst place at the state contest. This makes this band one of the best high school bands in the United States. The band has been invited to attend the national contest to be held at Council Coun-cil Bluffs, Iowa. |
