Show LOCAL m'XTERS 1JAG LARGE MOUNTAIN WON Royal Blake and Wayne Snow, local hunters, bagged a large, mountain lion, thirty miles north east of St. George between Cottonwood Cot-tonwood canyon and the Danish ranch in the district known as "Big Hollow." According to Mr. Blake they started on the trail of the lion on the 12th of April land followed him for five days (but were forced to abandon the !hunt because of stormy weather. When the storm was over they went hack and trailed him for two more days before the dogs treed him and they were able to get in a shot. Mr. Snow shot at the animal and knocked him out of the tree. According to the hunters, the lion then reared upon his hind legs and Mr. Snow again shot him. With the second nhot tho lion toppled over backward over a precipice and fell for about fifty feet and then bounced off for another twenty-five feot. The men had been on the trail of this lion for some time and report that they had found fourteen four-teen deer that he had killed in the last month. Of this number they state four bucks were killed in the? last two weeks. |
