Show i vol ,nt HONORED COUPLE CELEBRATE GITH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Hurricane, May 19. A very pleas- ant surprise was planned and carried If out by the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Mr. and Jirs. John N. Hinton, May 19, 1925, il being their 64th wedding anniver-sary. anniver-sary. Mr. and Mrs. Hinton set sail from England on the sailing ship "Underwriter" May 1, 1S61, Mrs. Hinton's name then being Emma Spendlove, they, each being the only 0I1e of their fathers family who had "P till then joined the L. D. S. church. They were strangers to each uuier when setting sail but berore landing in New York they were joined join-ed in wedlock, the ceremony being Performed by Captain Milo Andrews, President of the company. The late Plsident C. W. Penrose was first Cl 'Jnselor to Pres. Andrews. Their first wedding dinner was not 1 attended by as many relatives as was lheir 64th anniversary. The old couple were taken from their home ' a grandson, Dr. Wallace Wright of j Delta, at 9 a. m. The sons and daughters-with wives and husbands "cnt to the home, placed seats on the lawn and prepared the wedding din-05 din-05 A table (of his own make) with a seating capacity of 20 adults, was " read with the bounties of life. A "se wedding cake surrounded w u tiite roses adorned the center of the t".hle. The old couple were brought fi heme at 12:30, being very much sur- "ed to see their home so changed. A bunch of white roses were pinned 75c on their bosoms by Mrs. Sam Leigh "j Cedar City, to represent the orange blossoms. The dear old father was 'ed to return thanks at the dinner table which he did in a ve,yy appreciative apprecia-tive manner, being almol&overcome with gratitude and apprecfation. At 2 p. m. all grandchildren and greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren asembled and partook of a feast of ice cream and crackers and wedding cake. There were present, members of their family from Hinckley, Delta, Cedar City, La Verkin and Hurricane The gathering consisted of 114 de-scendents de-scendents besides the father and mother and two invited quests, namely name-ly James Jepson, an old acquaintance, and Mrs. Mary D. Spendlove, a sister-in-law. A short program was rendered consisting con-sisting of a speech on "The Early Experiences" Ex-periences" by James Jepson, duet, "Maggie," by Mr. and Mrs. Thos. M. Hinton; short talk by Bishop Brad-shaw; Brad-shaw; solo by Thomas Isom. A very enjoyable time was spent. We hope they will continue to live happy and enjoy life as long as they desire to live. |
