Show SEWER SYSTEM OIS-CUSSEDATMEETING OIS-CUSSEDATMEETING There was a good turn out last night to a meeting called for the purpose pur-pose o discussing the proposed sewer system. Judging by the discussion, many people had'been laboring under error as to cost of. system and time of payment pay-ment for same and under a wrong impression had signed protests for presentation to the city council next Saturday. In absence of the mayor Councilman Council-man James McArthur presided. Engineer Leo A. Snow read figures of approximate cost and cost per piece of property for the improvement, stating that payment would cover a period of ten years. Pres. Jos. K. Nicholls read figures which showed that the cost of the system to the property owners in the proposed district would be from $3 to $4 per annum for people in the residential district for a term of ten and in the business district the cost would be about $14 a year for ten years. This of course does not include in-clude charges for tapping the main for those desiring to do so. Some people present said they had not understood the proposal rightly and ordered the cards withdrawn which they had signed protesting against the improvement. W feel that thorough investigation will convince everybody that the system sys-tem is a real necessity for the city and that the charge for its installation will not prove so big a burden as they believe it will. Investigate, citizens. Do not turn this proposal down without knowing for certain what you are about. |
