| Show Refused medical services Dear Editor F Financially things are getting tough and these tough times have surely hit Vernal offs Lay in every major Industry In the valley have made It so every family ly can see and feel the suffering Now should be a time for compassion and understanding In some few cases this is true but not In the case of our local Family Health Clinic I know that when medical bills do not get paid then the quality of medical ser ser ser- services vices will eventually decline because of lack of money And Im I'm equally equall Sure that Its It's hard to collect money for medical bills from un- un un-or un or underemployed people so Im I'm sure the local Clinic has had it tough trying to collect a certain amount lof money rightly owed It and It has had to adopt a tough attitude but right now it Is a little ridiculous Last Tuesday to the Clinic for fora fora a new OH DB appointment I had the re- re required re- re required in my pocket I was given givena a pregnancy the test result of which was positive I was then asked if had pro pro- proof of of insurance I explained that my has hus- husband band was laid off 2 months ago and we weare weare are presently fighting with an Insurance company to get coverage the premiums were paid up but they denied us the privilege to convert his dependent coverage We are fighting to get coverage to cover this baby and at the same time we are fighting to make my husbands husband's unemployment insurance stretch to pay our bills And we are both looking for any kind of job which we hope to find soon On Tuesday I was refused services at atthe atthe the local Clinic because 1 I didn't have plus an Insurance card 2 I wouldn't be dishonest and present my husbands husband's good no-good insurance card 3 I decided to fight for insurance rather than get a Medicaid card 4 I didn't ha have ve in my pocket plus promise to pay per month for remaining the 5 months of my pregnancy Sure Im I'm angry angry-angry at not being able to get a job joh angry on r at being refused adequate health services for an unborn child and because angry I know Im I'm not the only one inthis in this predicament In this valley Where ese else can a pregnant woman get some health coverage Thank goodness Im I'm health This child wont won't need a doctors doctor's monitoring during the p pregnancy but wha what t do we do dowhen dowhen when I am ready to deliver Will we be also refused from t the e hospital because we dont don't have enough money I would welcome a response from anyone who has had to deal with this situation Thank you CLARA DAVIS S E Vernal VT UT |
