Show I The rescue of unconscious pilot L. L J J. J Wilson from a burning plane Saturday afternoon just seconds before it was engulfed in flames names was an act of heroism Just like the TV rescuers they got there just in time lime and exercised extreme courage in rescuing the trapped victim The incident was loaded with suspense What if the safety belt had stuck What if the gasoline tank had exploded If there had hadnot hadnot hadnot not been a vehicle near the runway the rescue probably could not have been made Everything worked out just in time to make the rescue suc such ul We congratulate Dean Reynolds and Jimmy Duerock for their heroic efforts and for risking their own lives to save a plane crash victim e 0 The cooperation of Vernal City Uintah County and Uintah School District in the joint venture to build an indoor swimming pool has been noted in far away places as the way it should be done An editorial in The Tremonton Leader a weekly newspaper told of agreements in Vernal and Roy where community swimming pools are aree either being built or had been built Getting the school board and city to work together on a single project is something like asking an Israeli and an Arab to work together in ina ina ina a munitions factory the editorial stated The American Fork Citizen and Bountiful Clipper weekly both recently recently- mentioned ed their current concern in construction indoor pools So Vernal is not alone We are happy to report our community now has the cooperation necessary to make the pool a reality and perhaps it itis itis itis is just as well that Tremonton doesn't know about the five years of patient work and planning behind what we h hope pe will soon come to pass Architects have been given a go-ahead go on preliminary plans and a site inspection has been made Prospective sites are either on the east side of the Vernal Junior High School where the old school once stood or on the west side near the track area We hope action continues and that construction can start this summer to begin the fulfillment of this dream project O 0 Another worthy project which will take lots of cooperation and probably the approving v vote te of county residents is the hospital building program Uintah County Commissioners Commissioners Commissioners Commis Commis- have signed a aletter aletter aletter letter of intent with Design West l Health Facilities Inc to begin a study of the medical needs of Uintah County The study is to include plans for financing designing and building a medical al center project for a guaranteed maximum price that will meet the available budget of the county The letter of intent stated that no charge for the Design West services would be made until an agreement had been approved for financing the project by an cooperative agreement or bond election Inthe in inthe inthe the county Design West will survey the area and present their findings in public meetings during the first part of April in an effort to get the hospital building program going as soon as possible We extend our support to the much needed hospital study program A After mentioning the two above projects ts it wouldn't be fair not to comment on the many meetings and knocking head discussions concerning Ashley Valley water and sewer needs Several conclusions have been agreed upon at these meetings One is that federal and andl state grant money must be obtained to finance the project t. t And secondly if we are Continued on Page 2 Jack straws Continued from Page 1 to get grant money we must present our case as one united body The second conclusion seems to be causing the problem right now to unite Vernal City Maeser water district and Ashley Valley water waler district into a one front effort for tor an Integrated water and sewer system Is going to take some doing Some way the agencies involved must come up with a aplan aplan aplan plan that will tie the areas together and be beneficial to all entities and then present this plan to Governor Rampton and our congressional representatives representatives in Washington Washing lon so they can request help from the various federal agencies Only by mutual agreement and cooperation can our area expect to get the funding necessary to provide the water and sewer services for our growing area The energy boom growth has put us high on the priority list but nothing will take the place of a concerted un unified demand from all the governing agencies involved and nothing will twill kill the project requests faster than bickering back and forth for special interest favoritism and selfish motives Lets Let's give our support to the water and sewer project plans |
