Show OLIN BUI proposes new off road rond vehicle regulations New regulations have been proposed for Cor use of road off-road vehicles on on oli national resource lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management According to Lloyd H. H Ferguson Vernal District Manager the prop proposed ed regulations are available for Cor inspection at the Vernal Office The US U.S. District Court as a result of a suit by the National Wildlife Federation r ruled that existing regulations together with the Departments Department's original Environmental Impact Statement which described alternatives for the regulations were inadequate ate The Court also held that the regulations did not meet the criteria of the Presidents President's Executive Order on management of road off-road vehicles on federal lands UNDER TIlE THE proposed regulation revisions all administered lands with the exception of the existing Primitive and Natural Areas are undesignated with regard to ORV use until they have been evaluated and designated in accordance with procedures and criteria specified in the Executive Order This process has been completed for areas of oC the California Desert and will proceed wide Bureau-wide when the regulations go into effect Designations will be made continuously until all administered areas will be open closed or regulated with regard to ORV use Initial efforts receiving t top p priority will be concentrated in southern California problem areas in Alaska southern Nevada western Arizona and central Utah These areas r receive about 60 percent of the ORV use on the lands administered administered administered ad ad- ministered by EVALUATION and other other- designation criteria have been changed to reflect the Executive Order Endangered species will receive special consideration following the intent of the Endangered Species Act of 1973 The proposed revisions also reflect the enforcement authority conveyed in several recently enacted laws will schedule a public meeting in Salt Lake City to discuss the proposed revisions Interested parties have until October 7 1976 to submit written comments suggestions or objections to the Director Washington DC D.C. 2004 r w. w J iIi I J i t DAVE PAVE GUYMON 11 Price 1 lit st hoods for home plate after alter a Price batter blasts the ball Into f the outfield It It- |
