Show Pavilion nears completion at Remember the Maine Park Work is progressing on the Remember the Main park pavilion under the direction of the Lions Lions' Club and the Uintah Basin Association of Governments Governments Governments Govern Govern- ments Summer Youth Program TIlE THE PAVILION is a bicentennial bicentennial bicentennial tennial project by by the Lions Club The club received mat matching hing funds to complete this project The youth group under the direction of Larry R. R Abplanalp have been working five days a week from 8 to making picnic areas putting gravel on the roadway and park areas painting fences and helping construct the pavilion The youth program is for lowin low- low in income ome families The students apply for the summer positions and if they qualify they are placed through this program It runs from June 1 through August 13 and places approximately approximately approximately ap ap- proximately 50 students in all types of work from secretary to clerical work ONE OF the projects this year has been to place playground equipment at all of the elementary schools painting and cleaning the fairground buildings work for forthe forthe forthe the Forest Service and fall cleaning of the Vernal Junior High School and all elementary schools before school begins t According to Lions Lion's President Larry Larryn ft Anderson Many of the people from var various us work stations stated this is a a avery very good program and expressed satisfaction at the quality of work done by the students MR ABPLANALP noted that the program will probably be in effect next year and that students could contact him at before the close close of school Assisting the youth on I the park parle have been Mr r. r Anderson who is retired from the Chevron Oil Company and Carl past president nt of the Lions M Members of the youth group were were Forrest Estes Hugh Robert Givens Tren Turney Mike Garcia Dale Givens and Greg Schaefer- Schaefer meyer overseer |
