Show indi indian an lands grab bag sale slated march 9 another grab beg bag a assort ment of indian land will be sold old to the highest bidder on march 0 at p pm m according to an announcement from the office of superintendent martin M zollar some fifty allotments totaling almost acres will be up for competitive bidding the allotments are located in nearly every part palt of the reservation from the farm creek area north of white rocks west to lablona Ta blona and nd south and east to bridgeland myton randlett Band lett and ouray bids will be opened on march 9 at 2 00 p m in the office of superintendent Super zollar about halt half of the acreage has a water right under the vintah uintah indian irrigation project according to the announcement these lands have been advertised tor for sale up on the application of one or of the owners with the balance if more than one consenting to fo the sale the allotments aro are owned by from I 1 to IS 15 people the superintendent said that the surface only Is being sold with the grantors granfors gran tors reserving all minerals realty officers pointed out that no sale will be ao approved proved unless the amount offered at least meets the estimated fair market value placed on it by a bureau appraiser bureau practices prevent the appraisals being made public the purpose of them being to assist the bureau as trustee to decide on an acceptable sell ing price and as a guide to the owners if appraisals were made public this would tend to restrict bidding to that amount and would not give the owners the benefit of testing an open and colnett tive five market officials explained bidders are reaul required reau ired red to make an advance deposit of 10 percent of their offer to be submitted at the time of bid the balance Is due 30 days after receipt of notice nolice of award which Is made by the area director all delinquent irrigation charges which have accrued against the land over the past years will be deducted from proceeds of the sale before distribution of funds Is made to the owners the lands are being sold subject to farm f arm nn pasture lea leases sea now in effect it was reported that all but four of the applicants were agreeable to giving the ute tribe the option to meet the high bid that might be received in these four cases however if the tribe wishes to acquire the particular tracts it will have to present a sealed bid in accordance with terms term of the advertisement and then will enter into oral bidding with others who have bid on the tracts providing the latter have met knet certain conditions five of the allotments are located along the white river below ouray the ute tribe Is interested in purchasing all the lands along the rivers of this area and this sale will permit them to acquire about additional acres several of the allotments have been purchased by them in past sales six of the allotments being offered are owned by a number of southern utes who have inherited them but have no desire to retain their interests on this reservation bidders bidden and others who are interested may be present at I 1 JM th opening of the bids on an march 9 |
