Show yo youth nth council slates meet monday to discuss goals and activities goals and activities tot for the future will be discussed at a meeting of the entire vernal youth service council monday at 8 pm in uintah county courtroom announced the rev key stuart W chairman this week the chairman said that the meeting was threefold 1 reports of the coun councils cirs activities during this first year of organization 2 an evaluation of these activities 3 goals tor for the future A report recently presented by the literature committee recommended that the public needed to be worm inform ed of some better reading and good literature should be more available rather than just removing the undesirable some proposals were 1 have some reviews published in the local paper 2 publish a best settee seller book list 3 publish a listing of the new books added to the library 4 check the possibility of having more paperback books available to be purchased in the school and community I 1 the committee reported that there are about books available for public use in the four libraries at the county building central school the junior and aln uintah high school thet the daily circulation of books averages from to per day and circulation is about equal for each library most of the librarians felt that reading interest was improving homer robertson assistant postmaster reported that because of public support government regulations and methods of prosecution most of the obscene literature sent through the mails has been discontinued A report presented by the committee to revise bylaws by byla la laws wa recommended that the youth service council launch in into to 0 a positive program of action ac tao n that will involve entire memberships ber ships in something ah are interested in it was sugg that a committee be appointed to develop behavior codes for youth and guides for parents dealing with youth also recommended was a committee to analyze the present recreational and social programs program for children and youth in the vernal area and to make proposals for new programs where present programs do not satisfy community needs I 1 |
