Utfes drop opener vo Union Cougars The Uintah Utes were happy in the first three and half innings as they owned own-ed a 6-1 lead over the Union baseballers in Roosevelt March 23, but the Ute cheers turned into tears as the Cats erupted for nine runs on timely hits and errors by the Utes and thumped the Vernal crew 10 to 6. Morton ripped the Union pitcher for a double and Good and Limb crossed home plate. Union was blanked in the bottom of the third inning and the Utes were shutout in the top of the fourth. The Cats replaced their zero from the third inning inn-ing with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, which narrowed the Uintah Uin-tah advantage to two runs at 6 to 4. Rocky Acord and Dean Townsend reached first base on errors by the shortstop. Acord scored on the error. Anderton doubled to drive in Townsend and Samuels scored Anderton on a sacrifice hit.
