Show Cats edge Carbon, Emery The Union baseball team thumped Carbon, 5-1 and Emery, 7-6, in games played in Price, March 20. Lonnie Sammaripa was the winning pitcher in the win over Carbon. He pitched seven innings, struck out 16, walked one, allowed three hits and one run. Union had six hits in the game and netting hits for Union were Rocky Acord, Jeff Samuels, Dean Townsend, Bryan Eldredge, Don Buchanan and Sammaripa. Sam-maripa. The big blow was a double by Acord. The game with Emery was tied at 6-6 going into the seventh inning. Union's Terry StiLson had a pinch hit single and was replaced by pinch runner, Ray Sundin. Sundin stole second base, advanced to third on an infield hit and scored the w inning run on a pass ball. Eldredge pitched 6 and two-thirds innings and allowed ten hits, six runs, nine walks and struck out three. Union had 11 hits in the game and 12 whifs plus six walks. Townsend was 3 for 3 and Sammaripa 3 for 4. Eldredge had a triple. Union will host Emery in a doubleheader at 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m., Friday and will host Grantsville, April 7. The Cats will take on Lehi, April 15 on the road. |
