Show EMTS coordinate ambulance service with hospital With a large emergency medical technician team which staffs three persons per 12-hour shift, the Uintah County Ambulance Service has coordinated coor-dinated its efforts with emergency room doctors. The ambulance has radio communication com-munication with the emergency room physician when at the injury scene. Important information is radioed to the . doctor who makes a preliminary diagnosis and prescirbes treatment, in addition to the treatment the EMT may have given. Earlier this month the Uintah County Commissioners leased the ambulance to a local enterprise which has attempted at-tempted to upgrade the service. Local EMTs are continuously engaged in training to further their knowledge and skill. An intraveneous infusion course is scheduled in May which will enable an EMT to assist in replacing body fluids. Dr. Morris Matthews, emergency room doctor, feels this added advanced life support will save lives, especially for seriously injured patients who are an hour or two from the hospital. , "Special thanks is given," said David Free, EMT, "to the Uintah County Hospital staff with whose cooperation makes the ambulance service effective." ef-fective." Basic EMT courses are going to be given in Vernal during the upcoming months for anyone interested in getting involved in the EMT program. |
