F Smith Harahan recipe of Mrs Bert Groves San Antonio Louisiana Texas WHOLE WHEAT RAISIN LOAF The addition of rolled oats adds heartiness to this good tasting raisin bread 2 cups milk 4 3 cup water 4 1 cup cooking oil 3 to 3 4 3 cups Pillsbury's best st all purpose or unbleached ached flour 2 1 cup sugar 3 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon cinnamon 2 1 teaspoon nutmeg 2 active dry yeast 4 cups Pillsbury's best st whole wheat flour 1 cup rolled oats 1 cup raisins In medium saucepan heat first firlit three ingredients until very warm 1200 to F. F Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup level off In large bowl combine warm liquid 2 cups purpose all-purpose flour sugar salt alt cinnamon nutmeg and yeast Beat eat 4 minutes at medium speed fly liy hand stir in whole wheat flour oats raisins and remaining all all- purpose flour On well well- floured surface knead dough until smooth and elastic about 5 minutes Place in greased bowl Cover let let rise in in warm place 20 to 30 minutes Grease two or 8 x 4 inch loaf pans Punch down dough divide and shape into 2 loaves Place in greased pans Brush rush with oil or melted margarine Cover let rise in warm place until light and doubled in size sie 30 to 45 minutes Preheat oven to F.
