Show Classrooms in the community In addition to returning to school approximately 80 Uintah High School seniors will also start voc vocational the on-the on the job training as part of the Cooperative Work Vork Experience I programs at the high school According to Phil Ellis Director of the Vocational Education about 30 of these students are already placed In jobs and the rest will begin their jobs within the next two months The jobs are obtained by interview with the employer making the final selection COOPERATIVE TRAINING programs train students in the areas of auto mechanics woods and building trades metals and welding electronics marketing and retailing and business and office The the on-the-job training is considered part of a students student's regular class load and both high school credit and a grade are given for successful job performance Cooperative training programs have many many advantages advantages advantages ad ad- vantages for both students and employers Students can easily relate education to the real world of work at a period in life when it is natural to look outside the school for learning and earning opportunities As a result the student more easily makes the transition from school to work and becomes a much more valuable employee By working closely with employers employers employers em em- the teacher- teacher coordinator can provide more effective classroom instruction which the student can use immediately on the job This in turn helps to motivate the student both in the classroom and on the job Businessmen and employers in Vernal have been especially cooperative in providing part- part time lime work and training for young people in the community As a result many students grad graduate ate from Uintah High School each year with both training and experience in their chosen career |
