H J sf r DR THEODORE E WHITE WHITE- served 2 decades White Dr TE IE quarry director dies at 71 Dr Theodore E White 71 East North Vernal former director of the Dinosaur Quarry at Dinosaur National Monument died September 2 1977 in the Uintah County Hospital lI of a heart ailment For nearly two decades Dr White While managed the quarry and was one of the founders of the monument A geologist and paleontologist he received his PhD degree from the University University University sity of Kansas and the University of Michigan A STAFF member at Harvard Har liar vard yard University for 35 years he came to Vernal to help direct the creation of the Dinosaur National Monument for the Department of the Interior and andin andin andin in 1965 1905 was presented their Meritorious Award for public service H He was the author of some 30 scientific articles published in geologic and journals and was wasa a member of the American Association of the Advancement Advancement Advancement Ad Ad- of Science the American Society of Vertebrae Paleontologists He Ill was a member of toe Society of Sigma Phi Sigma Biological Society American Society of Fellows of Geological Society of America and participated in 35 sc scientific ien c expeditions lions throughout the Western hemisphere He Ile was author of a book on Dinosaurs for teenagers was a veteran of World War II a member of the Jensen American Legion Post where he served 25 consecutive years and was a pioneer of science concerning butchering techniques s of early American tribes and their importance to Archeology Theodore Elmer While White was born December 8 1905 in Oklahoma the son of Luther B.
