Show BIBULOUS AND BOISTEROUS. On Wednesday last a man named Thomas Parr a transient who had been working in town a short time at his trade of harness making, became intoxicated and abused several persons on the street. He also was very profane. Next morning a public spirited citizen, who, though not directly involved in the affair, considered it wrong to let such conduct go unpunished, laid a complaint before Alderman Cummings. A warrant was issued and the culprit was arrested. He at first demanded a jury trial, but subsequently withdrew his first plea of not guilty. The Justice made it $15 and costs, for the three counts embodied in the complaint viz: profanity, drunkenness and disturbing the peace. |
