Show HYRUM NOTES. One day last week a tramp called at a house in Blacksmith's Fork Canyon and as there were only the children at home, helped himself to a square meal. The mother had set the meat, potatoes and coffee already on the stove for the family dinner, and went to a neighbor's, about a mile up the valley. Mr. Tramp was in luck; he sat down, helped himself, and departed in peace. The little ones in the mean time ran for their mother, they being very much frightened at the doings of the strange man. As the families live some distance from each other in that locality this incident will act as a caution not to leave the children alone. The tramp was evidently hungry and honest, or might have helped himself to many articles of value for he was "Monarch of all he surveyed" for the time being. Will you please call attention through the columns of the Journal to the bad state of the road between Millville and Providence? It has more dangerous water ditches in that short space than any road in the county and unless the county officers or the precinct supervisor sees to it somebody will have some buggies or wagons to pay for, not to mention surgeon's fees. Mr. Editor, the Journal is our only source of remedy for this evil, so if you will bring this matter before the officers whose duty it is to see that the roads are kept in repair will they probably attend to this part of the county road and thereby prevent accidents.
