Show RESIGNATION OF SUPERINTENDENT THATCHER. On the 12th inst. the news reached this city that the resignation of George W. Thatcher, Esq., Superintendent of the Utah & Northern division of the U. P., had been tendered and accepted, and that W. B. Doddridge would become his successor. This news is most unwelcome to the public of this region, and also, we will venture to say, to the employes [employees] of the road throughout its entire length. Not but that Mr. Doddridge is a most suitable man for the position, and one with whom the public and the employees of the road may expect to have the most pleasant relations, but Mr. Thatcher has been identified with the road so long, and has shown such uniform courtesy to the public, as well as admirable executive ability to the management of the longest narrow guage [gauge] railroad in the world, that he has come to be regarded by the public and employes [employees] as an indispensible [indispensable] adjunct to the road, and they will be most reluctant to part with him in the capacity of its superintendent. We hear a rumor that the main office of the road will be established at Pocatello, but should this not be the case, and should Mr. Doddridge make his headquarters in Logan, we bespeak for him a kindly reception from, and pleasant relations with our business men and general public. JUST received at Zion's Board of Trade, two car loads of Steel Skein and Excursion wagons. s15-tf |
