Show BEAR LAKE ITEMS. From the Democrat Sept. 9th. Hon. William Budge started for Boise last Monday to attend the Territorial Democratic Convention. The air is rife with rumors of attempted ?? jumpers in Montpelier. We hope the citizens of that place will be careful to give no opportunities for that disgraceful and dishonest practice. Superintendent C. O. Card recently informed Bishop Price, of Paris, that it was probable the next April General Conference would be held in Logan Temple. An effort is being made to get reduced rates for Salt Lake October Conference via Oregon Short Line Railroad. At ordinary rates the round trip would cost about fifty dollars. If they will make it ten, a great many will probably take the opportunity of "riding on the rail," a view of the road from Montpelier to Ogden being a great additional attraction. Ole Hansen with the assistance of his wife and John T. Rich, successfully broke jail last Thursday evening. His wife was arrested immediately after his escape. She made affidavit that John T. Rich not only assisted in providing tools, but also agreed to have a horse tied at a certain place for the prisoner to get away on. Threshing has commenced in Paris although a great deal of late grain has yet to be cut. |
